Hispanic
Broadcasting Corporation
Los Angeles Cluster |
|
In 2003, HBC operated three
program formats in Los Angles, KLVE at 107.5 FM,
KSCA at 101.9 FM and Recuerdo, a "trimulcast" of
three signals at 103.9 and 98.3 FM and 1020 AM. |
|
   |
|
KLVE is Spanish soft
contemporary, often called "romántica." KSCA is
Mexican regional music and Recuerdo plays 60's
oldies from Mexico and Latin America. |
|

Right behind the lobby is the guest production
studio, where Pepe Vega records paid programs and
infomercials which run on Sunday morning on the HBC
stations. |

Next to Pepe's studio is Enrique Marroquín's edit
facility, where the Renán Almendarez Coello "El
Cucuy de la Mañana" show is prepared for
syndication. |

Continuity and Traffic |
|
Continuity is the department which handles the
logistics of sales orders: commercials are received,
orders are sent to record copy and spot changes are
taken care of. Juan Francisco Arréchiga, with over
30 years of radio experience, takes a moment to
smile for the camera. |
|
 |
|
Traffic is not the department that gives road
reports; it is where commercials are scheduled for
broadcast. Every ad contract has to be carefully
entered into the Marketron computer so that the
commercials ordered by our customers will run
exactly where they should! Avis Turner handles the
job for KLVE. |

Who
ran the place in '02? |
|
Ken Christensen is Vice President and General
Manager of the HBC Los Angeles stations. He's the
lucky guy with the the double sided view from the
corner office.. and the man responsible for keeping
HBC's stations #1 and #2 in adults 25-54 . |

can see the music and commercials that are scheduled
to play. The announcers can also insert special
effects and program elements to make their show more
entertaining and varied. |

XM
Satellite Radio |
|
HBC provides the programming for 5 of the XM
satellite radio channels. All are supervised from
Los Angeles, while the rock en español and soft
contemporary channels are also produced there. Here

The TOC also includes lots of rack space for the
audio gear, remote broadcast equipment, transmitter
control and audio processing and digital storage for
the HBC stations. Also in the area are the UPS for
drop-out free broadcasting and the controls for the
large generator that can keep us running for days in
an emergency. |

|
Where
are the commercials recorded? |
|
HBC has 5 production studios, one of which can
also be used as an emergency on-air studio. These
are the facilities where commercials, feature
programs and artist greetings are recorded. Manny
Sepúlveda, "Vitaminas", Santiago Nieto and Francisco
Moreno do commercial production and station imaging
for HBC in Los Angeles. |
