• each region and nation in Latin America has a rich musical heritage. Much of the music of our Hemisphere does not get airplay on commercial radio in the US and only limited play on a few non-commercial stations

• To show the distinctions between the musical tastes of the different nations, we have prepared samples of the more common music styles or genres of Latin America.

• These widely varied styles can be seen as evidence of the commonality of language and the extreme differences in musical taste that recent immigrants to the US posess.

• Colombia exports more than coffee, flowers and petroleum. The Colombian cumbia is wildly popular from Argentina to Mexico. Hear cumbias as well as other music of this beautiful land.
