Spanish language "Classic Hits" for a Mexican heritage audience is often, mistakenly, called "oldies." "Oldies" formats in the US general market are those playing a 60's-based music list. Spanish language "Classic Hits" stations play only a tiny number of 60's songs, with the majority of tunes coming from the 70's, 80's, 90's and the last decade.

And, unlike "oldies" stations with their over-50 year old core audience, the average age for this format's listeners is around 36.
