Coast areas..

When the Colombian cumbia arrived in Mexico in the 60's, it
was adopted by the dancing public and soon developed into a
truly Mexican hybrid. .

There are "sonora" cumbia bands, which are
large dance bands. And there are "grupera" cumbia artists
that have mixed the onda grupera with the cumbia to get a
distinctive, keyboard based tropical flavor.
